Alec Baldwin’s wife of five months, Hilaria Baldwin, said she plans to be a hardworking, devoted wife and mother when she and the actor divorce.
“I don’t want to lose you,” she told some 400 fans of “The View” at a live-streamed event at Cafe Milano, a Midtown West restaurant. “I don’t want to let you down.”
Hilaria Baldwin, 29, who has given birth to their twin son and daughter, said she and Baldwin, 55, are dividing their assets as they amicably split. “As far as anything else goes, I have had a beautiful relationship with Alec,” she said. “I love him and care for him and feel he’s my best friend, and I wish him all the best and we remain best friends.”
Unlike actress Kim Basinger, whose 2002 divorce from Alec was acrimonious, Hilaria Baldwin did not appear to go into great detail about how their split might work. But she took a swipe at the public reaction to her pregnancy news, of which some said she was doing it to get attention. “The vitriol that came out of me actually hurt us more than it helped,” she said. “It was like, ‘Listen, honey, everyone’s so negative. You don’t need to do this, or do that.’ ”
Like Basinger, she said she would not choose to pursue a high-profile lifestyle to get ahead. “I don’t want to be famous,” she said. “I want to be successful. I want to be successful with what I’m doing. I don’t need anybody else to make me successful.”
